Jingui Qi Gong

Jingui Golden Shield Qi Gong is a traditional “temple style” training that provides a fast, direct, physical way to strengthen the muscles, the joints, and the flow of Qi (internal energy) in the body.  As a potent internal energy system, it integrates the body, mind, and energy through the careful application of physical practice, meditation, and herbs.  The result is a powerful transformation of the entire energetic body and greatly enhanced levels of health.

THE TRADITION
The tradition of Jingui Golden Shield Qi Gong originated 500 years ago in the temples on Emei mountain in Western China.  Traditionally, the training was passed down from the Master to only a few students.  In this generation, it was passed down from Master Yang Jingui in China.  He was the head of martial arts training in the Sino-Japanese war, and is remembered as the “jewel” of China.  

Master Yang taught Tai Qi and Qi Gong informally to thousands of students in the parks of China.  When he turned 50, he began accepting formal students.  He taught 19 students in all, and his 19th student was Dr. Don Zhang DAOM, PhD.  Before Dr. Zhang came to the United States from China, Master Yang transmitted all the teachings of the Jingui Golden Shield tradition, and gave Dr. Zhang his blessing to teach it to anyone wishing to learn.

Dr. Zhang developed this knowledge not as a martial art, but as a system for health and longevity.  This system has been taught to the general public in the United States since 1995 and, more recently, in Canada.     

ABOUT THE TRAINING
Jingui Golden Shield Qi Gong is a physical, meditative, and energetic training system.  The training consists of meditation, the external and/or internal application of traditional herbal formulas, and physical stimulation to selected areas of the body. Unlike some other qi gong instruction where people attend infrequent weekend seminars, Jingui is a training system where one is guided through sequential levels of development. Students attend class two times per month, and each student’s training is individually customized to meet their unique speed of development.  Class time is composed of lecture, questions and answers, meditation, and physical practice.  Each student receives individual attention to monitor progress and customize training.  Depending on one’s individual progress, Golden Shield is approximately a 12-18 month program that can stand alone or become the foundation for a continuing multi-year practice of intensive personal cultivation.  

Between classes students practice at home 3-4 times per week.  Throughout the initial 12-18 months of Golden Shield training, students have objective measures that demonstrate the growth of the bioenergetic system.  Towards the end of the training, students are taught methods to “seal in” the growth that has been accomplished.  With these techniques, the level of cultivation that has been achieved during training will last for decades.
